CELINE RESORT 2012

via style.com

Amazing collection by Celine. Loving: the single-buttoned blazer; translucent raincoat in an ombre tone; blazer thrown over a fully-buttoned, all-floral ensemble; that huge gold belt buckle; the fact that the hem of the white shirt in the 8th photo peeks out from the slit of the skirt; the heavily embroidered floral bustier worn over a casual tee; and that simple but lux leather coat.

Not so sure about some other looks in the collection though--like the ruched, elbow length gloves; one particularly incongruous silk, striped, pajama-looking set; and a pleated, but otherwise formless shocking pink dress.

Nevertheless, inspiring.

HELMUT LANG RESORT 2012

Few designers can do sleek and understated as effortlessly, yet meticulously as the team behind Helmut Lang. Especially loving the layered hems of varied lengths.

TOPSHOP A/W 2011

I guess I've never been much of a bright-colour person, so I'm always happier when the A/W collections roll around. I'm particularly excited about Topshop's offerings--I see velvet, suede, tassels, dark blue and burgundy, and even some oriental-inspired embroidery.

There are only 2 things that suck:
1. It's gonna be kind of hard to wear a velvet maxi skirt in the heat that is Singapore's weather, all year long;
2. My bank account is gonna take a hit anyway.

A NOTE

I'm sorry I haven't been posting very regularly--I've been distracted, among other things. And maybe after completing my foundation year fashion project I just felt like taking a break from clothes. But then again I felt extremely guilty about neglecting this space because this is what I've set out to do, and there's no turning back. Don't get me wrong, I love this, I really do. I think the thing that frustrates me about fashion sometimes is the whole fickleness of it. Is that even a word? But you get what I mean--it's ever-changing, one collection after another, a new style, a new trend--and I'm afraid sometimes that I'll get overwhelmed and I can't keep up, so I'll back off, but then I end up even more lagged behind than ever.

I will try to keep my pace up as best as I can!

Anyway, I'm gonna try to move towards a more personal take on this blog, so I'll start by posting some photographs that I took. They could or could not be fashion-related, but I just really like taking stuff out of my closet and setting it up for a shot. Maybe some outfit shots to come ;)

Ugh better quality photos at nomenclature

THEYSKEN'S THEORY RESORT 2012

via knighttcat

I love the way this was set up, choreographed and photographed: models with the same hair and sunglasses, almost mirror images of each other except for the clothes, shielded from the glare of the sun and its reflection off the metallic flooring, and the fact that they were snapped as pairs, from above, rather than a flat one-shot. It definitely caught my eye.

Not to mention the clothes: sheer overlays over denim shorts; those pointed-toe wedges; an unexpected, blinding burst of neon orange; blazers with little cut-outs on the back of the collar; acid-green denim; ombre-d blouses and skirts.

Fast becoming one of the labels I always look out for.
